Tab Benoit to Play at the Lincoln Theatre

Tab Benoit
Tab Benoit will be playing at the Lincoln Theatre on Thursday, May 12

Blues singer/guitarist Tab Benoit will be playing at the Lincoln Theatre on Thursday, May 12, 2011. His 1992 debut album Nice and Warm, prompted comparisons to blues guitar-greats such as Albert King, Albert Collins and even Jimi Hendrix.

While Hendrix may be a stretch, there can be no disputing that Tab is a very strong blues guitarist. In 2007, he won both the B.B. King Entertainer of the Year and Best Contemporary Male Performer at the Blues Music Awards (formerly the W.C. Handy Awards) in Memphis.

Tab released his seven studio album, Medicine, in April.

Tab will be playing with the Voice of the Wetlands All-stars, a group of New Orleans musicians Tab assembled after Katrina to “forge a musical plea about the fragile eco-system that is the increasingly depleted wetlands surrounding their hometown.” The Voice of the Wetlands All-stars has appeared at both the Democrat and Republican Conventions and appears annually at the Voice of the Wetlands Festival in Houma, Louisiana.

The Voice of the Wetlands All-stars are:

Tab Benoit – Guitars and Vocals
Dr. John – Piano and Vocals
Cyril Neville – Percussion and Vocals
Anders Osborne – Guitar and Vocals
George Porter, Jr. – Bass and Vocals
Jumpin Johnny Sansone – Harmonica, Accordion, and Vocals
Waylon Thibodeaux – Fiddle and Vocals
