Relish Café & Bar was a mixed bag. I really wanted to like this place, but it is very doubtful that I will return any time soon.
I tried the fried green tomatoes, the pulled pork sandwich, the Cobb sandwich, and the classic mac and cheese.
The fried green tomatoes were pretty good. They were served with a dressing and feta cheese. The dressing worked better and would have been fine on its own.
The pulled pork sandwich was good. The meat was chopped not shredded and was flavorful enough. I would have liked some vinegar bbq sauce. There was no sauce on the table, and I wasn’t offered any.
We got the Cobb sandwich by mistake. My wife ordered the Cobb salad, but our server brought the sandwich. It had no dressing, and the lettuce had brown spots, a disappointment on many levels.
The mac and cheese was served in a skillet and was a little bland. It was a decent choice for a young child.
This is how bills itself on its Facebook Page:
Relish is a café and bar, a gourmet retail market, and a recreational culinary school that celebrates a love of food, drink, cooking, and entertaining in an upscale atmosphere without the upscale price tag.
As I said, I had hoped to like Relish. I was anticipating a quality American/Southern restaurant. The price tag was upscale and not worth it.
