On April 13th, SOOTS will host the 6th Annual Blues Revue — featuring Justin Robinson and the Mary Annettes, John Dee Holeman, and Tad Walters. The event will be at Downtown Raleigh’s historic Longview Center Located on Moore Square. Doors will open at 7:00. Water will be provided for all guests. Purchase tickets now: $10 in advance, $12 at the door.
SOOTS students will be selling student made merchandise, the proceeds of which go directly to the Music Maker Relief Foundation as well as artists who are featured in the student-made “SOOTS Series” CDs.
This concert was also made possible through the support of the Music Maker Relief Foundation (MMRF) and the Pepsi Refresh Project. MMRF has long been a supporter of SOOTS, and allows SOOTS to feature such a wide range of legendary artists. This concert was also made possible by the Pepsi Refresh Project Grant that SOOTS won in May 2010.

Sustaining Roots Music (SOOTS) is a Raleigh Charter High School Community Project that raises funds for aging blues musicians to pay their bills, works to preserve the arts of the American South and assists the Music Maker Relief Foundation (MMRF) in their similar endeavors.
SOOTS builds bridges between communities to help sustain the roots of today’s music. SOOTS does this through our annual Blues Benefit Concert at Raleigh’s LongView Center, May Day Cake Bake and Art Farm, as well as its annual free concert at UNC-Chapel Hill’s Love House, which follows a round table discussion with Southern Studies and Folklore professors. SOOTS archives and endows the work of local blues musicians in order to educate others to appreciate the richness of our vernacular culture.
