The 9th Annual Krispy Kreme Challenge will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 8:30 am.
The 2013 Krispy Kreme Challenge is set to be the biggest challenge to date, with a cap of 8,000 runners. Race organizers expect to reach this cap quickly. Several new initiatives are also being implemented this year, including the opportunity for team and individual fundraising. See the K2C Get Involved page for more information.
To complete the Krispy Kreme Challenge competitors begin at the North Carolina State University Memorial Belltower, run 2.5 miles through scenic downtown Raleigh to the Krispy Kreme store at the corner of Peace and Person Streets, eat 1 dozen doughnuts, and run 2.5 miles back to the Belltower — all in under an hour. Participants can also sign up as Casual Runners, who are not required to eat all of the doughnuts, or Supporters, who do not run in the race but do receive a race T-shirt.
For more information on registration, see the K2C Frequently Asked Questions page.
The K2C supports the North Carolina Children’s Hospital
The Krispy Kreme Challenge has been proud to support the North Carolina Children’s Hospital. The mission of the hospital is to provide the highest quality care to patients from all 100 counties in North Carolina, regardless of a family’s ability to afford the services. The money raised goes to help fund additional equipment and support services necessary to provide exceptional care. It also funds innovative programs that aid in the treatment and care of children suffering from a wide range of illnesses.
One of the ways the funds are used is through a program called the NC Children’s Promise Grants. Grants fund a diverse set of programs at the hospital. Visit the Children’s Hospital website for more information on the amazing service they provide to our state’s children.
