Carolina RailHawks vs. Charlotte Independence

The Carolina RailHawks will face the Charlotte Independence in the Third Round of the 2016 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in what has been described as a “historic rivalry.” This tournament is recognized as the oldest ongoing national soccer competition in the United States and is inclusive to teams from the MLS, NASL, USL, and even amateur clubs. The victor of the June 1 match will proceed to the next round and face Major League Soccer New England Revolution on June 15.  The RailHawks have been quite successful in previous appearances in the U.S. Open Cup, defeating MLS teams on numerous occasions to advance to the semifinals and quarterfinals.
