Native American Program at City Museum, August 13, 2011

On Saturday, August 13th, visit the Raleigh City Museum for a free program about North Carolina’s original inhabitants!

Travel over 200 years into the past to understand the lives of the native Catawba and see how their culture and other native cultures have transformed into what they are today.

Join us anytime from 1-4pm to learn about native life, such as the domestication of plants, and take home your very own sunflower!

Cozy on up and listen to recordings of two-time Native American Music Award winners Ken Quiet Hawk and Deborah New Moon Rising as they keep the oral tradition alive and tell the legends of their ancestors.

And don’t forget to try your hand at weaving your own paper basket, a modern twist to the traditional art of basket weaving!
