Salute Our Troops Jeep Tour, August 3

The Salute Our Troops Jeep Tour is coming to Morrisville on Wednesday, August 3!

Featuring a fully-restored 1952 CJ-3 Willys Jeep, the Jeep Tour will be stopping at area stores to help raise awareness and donations for the summer-long “Salute Our Troops” fundraising campaign. In Morrisville, the Jeep Tour will stop at the Kangaroo Express at 3610 Davis Dr (August 3, 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.).

Since Memorial Day, the Salute Our Troops campaign has already raised $1.35 million for the USO, the Wounded Warrior Project and state-based military support organizations in five states, including the North Carolina National Guard Soldiers and Airman Assistance Fund. With 90 percent of those funds donated by generous Americans shopping at Kangaroo Express convenience stores, more donations and support continue to pour in. The campaign will continue through Labor Day.

Local military heroes will be recognized at each of the stops, including Silver Star recipient and North Carolina native, Sgt. Tommy Rieman. Sgt. Rieman is featured in the documentary Halfway Home and is a face of the U.S. Army’s “America’s Army: Real Heroes.”

In addition to helping honor our heroes, event participants can get a free Salute Our Troops t-shirt by filming a video salute to the military in their lives and communities for possible inclusion on KESalute.com, try free samples from Salute Our Troops sponsors, explore current military vehicles on display, and learn more about the local beneficiary organizations, the USO of North Carolina and the North Carolina National Guard Soldiers and Airmen Assistance Fund.
