The Festival in Motion, a celebration of the Walnut Creek Greenway, will take place on October 1 at Raleigh’s treasured ‘ribbon of green’ between the Walnut Creek Wetland Center and the Eliza Pool Park. Bring your friends and family from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. for a free day of fun, fitness and activities for all ages. A free party will also be held at the Lake Johnson Boathouse from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.
The greenway, which runs east and west along Walnut Creek, will be alive with art, music, food, games and exploration of its treasures, history, natural gifts and neighbors. Children can explore the past in an archeological dig and can sharpen their athletic skills by participating in soccer and volleyball clinics. North Carolina State University (NCSU) students will conduct flash-lighted tunnel walks.
Founding partners are the Friends of Lake Johnson, the Triangle Greenways Council, Partners for Environmental Justice and the City of Raleigh Parks and Recreation Department.
