Historic Raleigh Walking Tour, July 9, 2011

Explore the lives and accomplishments of early North Carolina & Raleigh leaders. Discover the who, what, when, where and why of Raleigh’s existence from the 1780’s to current day. Here the stories of Civil War, politics, business leaders and the changes that took place over the centuries.
 
The Historic Raleigh Tour covers the following areas:

  • The State Capitol, Fayetteville Street, Memorial Auditorium (Progress Energy Center).
  • Shaw University, Peace College, St. Augustine’s College, Meredith College, St. Mary’s School, North Carolina State University
  • Historic Districts of Oakwood, Hayes – Barton, Five Points, Mordecai and Boylan Heights including Moore Square.
  • The Entertainment Districts, Glenwood South, City Market and Warehouse Districts & Five Points.
  • The North End; Capitol Park, Village at Pilots Mill, Seaboard Warehouses
  • The Central Business District (CBD), NC State Arboretum and Pullen Park.

Tour is a comprehensive 2.5 hour in length with two stop & go opportunities (walk, restroom, etc.) Chilled bottled water included in guest fee.
