The pace of firearms development accelerated rapidly in the first half of the 19th century. Firearms historian Michael Helms will be displaying a selection of period firearms and discussing their unique stories and their social and technological importance. 19th-century firearms is the topic of Michael Helms’ forthcoming history thesis at North Carolina State University.
Joel Lane Museum House is proud to present a lecture by Mike Helms, ” Evolution of Firearms from the Late 1700s to the Civil War ” on Thursday, March 5, 2015, at 7 pm at the Visitors Center at 160 South Saint Mary’s Street, Raleigh, NC 27603. Admission will be $16 for the general public and $11 for members of the Joel Lane Historical Society. Refreshments will be served. Seating is limited, and advanced payment is required.
