Mouths of Babes Theatre Presents THE DIARY PLAY: FOUR TEENS TELL THEIR STORY Performing at Burning Coal Theatre at the Murphey School located at 224 Polk St. in Raleigh.
The production runs Thursday May 22nd – Saturday May 24th at 7:30pm, and Sunday May 25th at 2:00pm.
THE DIARY PLAY is an original theatrical work composed of selections of actual diaries.
A unique theatre experience, in the DIARY PLAY we hear four distinct teen voices dealing with issues of maturity, growth, and growing pains. The director, Trey Morehouse, asked adults of various backgrounds to reflect on the diaries they wrote as teens. This play is the result. We hear the words and experiences of Elizabeth, who undergoes the trials and tribulations of first love; of Galina, a young woman from Turkmenistan recovering from an act of sexual violence who dreams of a better life in America; of Pam, who records details of school, family, farming, dating, and a Peter Frampton concert; and of Susanne, a young woman struggling to reconcile her identities as an actor and as a committed Christian.
A talk back with the actors and diary writers will take place on Sunday after the matinee performance.
Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for teachers, students and military. For tickets, email TheDiaryPlay@Gmail.com or call 919-307-9570.
