Cary Kite Festival 2013

The Town of Cary will hold its annual kite festival on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 1 pm at Fred G. Bond Metro Park. The rain date is March 10.

For kids of all ages, Bond Park’s Annual Kite Festival is a great way to spend the afternoon. There will be an expert kite flyer on hand for stunt kite demonstrations, and certificates and special awards in a variety of kite flying categories for those who choose to participate. Free and open to the public, the fun will begin at 1 p.m. in the multipurpose field adjacent to Bond Lake.

Schedule of Events

12:30 p.m. – Registration begins
1 p.m. – Stunt kite demonstrations
1:45 p.m. – Shotgun start for all kite flyers with awards for quickest take off
2 p.m. – Demos will take place at various time depending on the wind
2:30 p.m. – Announcement of award winners

Related Information

Before the Kite Festival, children can learn to build a kite on Saturday, March 9 from 10-11:30 a.m. at Cary Senior Center. Kite Capers art class is for children ages 3-5 and High in the Sky is for ages 5-10. The cost of the class is $12 for residents, $16 for non-residents and registration is required.
