I usually use the Small Bites section to discuss restaurants that have just opened or that I’ve only tried once or twice. I’m going to switch things up and give a brief review of an old favorite, Seaboard Café.
Situated around Logan’s garden shop, the outdoor and semi-indoor seating is a great place to have lunch among the ever changing landscape and occasional cargo train.
Seaboard serves a variety of sandwiches and burgers. My wife’s favorite is the grilled tuna salad, Swiss cheese and cranberries sandwich. It’s a different combination, and one that might strike some as odd. The pairing of tuna and cranberries works very well. It’s now the only way we eat tuna salad at home.
My usual is the chicken salad sandwich. The chicken salad is chicken breast, celery, relish and pimento. The chicken is always very fresh and, again, the unusual combination of condiments work well.
I’ve tried the Carlos Burger, the current burger special, the last two times I’ve been to Seaboard. The burger comes with onion and jalapeno pepper, cheddar cheese, lettuce and tomato. I can’t say enough good about it. They clearly use very good quality hamburger. If you like a spicier burger, you will enjoy it.
Highly recommended.
