FIREBIRD & A Tribute to Russian Ballet & Its Composers

The Carolina Ballet 2018-2019 Season opens with the classic Russian fairy tale, Firebird. Firebird is set to a powerful score by Igor Stravinsky. Tchaikovsky was an inspiration to Stravinsky and the Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto is considered one of his greatest. Zalman Raffael, will take on this monumental work to open the season. Aram Khatucturian’s Spartacus has become a staple of Russian ballet. Robert Weiss’ pas de deux evokes the Russian spirit of the music with bravura, lifts, turns and jumps.
